What is Rewind?
Rewind is a non denominational church service for people living with dementia and their carers, hosted by an experienced aged care chaplain.
What can you expect when you join us at Rewind?
A 45 minute service including familiar hymns, bible readings, prayer and an encouraging message from special speakers who have experience caring for and working with those living with dementia.
- Accessible hymns and bible readings: each attendee will receive a booklet which will contain the lyrics of the hymns, a Bible passage and a prayer. They can be taken home and perused again at one’s leisure, providing further encouragement.
- Speakers: our guest speakers will be well acquainted with supporting people living with dementia and will deliver messages of comfort and hope.
- Morning tea: we’ll conclude our time with light refreshments, giving carers a time to connect with one another and get to know fellow attendees
Who is behind Rewind?
Leanne Hill is a retired chaplain holding a Graduate Diploma in Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care from Morling College. She served at BaptistCare Bethshan Gardens Aged Care Home in Wyee for the past five years where she worked closely with people living with dementia. She has experience in providing individual care and support, running chapel services and holding funerals. During her time at Bethshan, she recognised how powerful familiar music, particularly hymns and scripture could be to comfort and give peace to those living with dementia. Rewind is born out of a need for a familiar space for people to worship and fellowship. Leanne is a member of The Heights Church which has kindly agreed to host the services.
What does Rewind cost?
Rewind is a free service, held on the first Wednesday of every month at 10.00 am at The Heights Church at 110a Galston Road, Hornsby Heights.
Donations are welcome and can be organised with Leanne.
